Last minute tips for e-tailers for Black Friday and high season

Although it's "fitting" to prepare well in advance for Black Friday and the high season, all is not lost if you're a little behind schedule this year. We've got some ideas to boost your conversions this period.

VARIED OFFERS FOR RETURNING VISITORS

Nowadays - thankfully - Black Friday isn't just a day, you can attract users before and after Friday.

You can keep visitors to your online store coming back again and again by designing different offers and product bundles for them from time to time. In other words, you need to structure your communication in such a way that it is clear to them that there is a reason to visit your shop every day during this period.

Smart pop-ups, especially pop-ups with a countdown timer, can be a great help in this, helping to create a sense of urgency.

NEWSLETTER SIGN-UP WITH LEAD MAGNETS

This is the perfect time to increase your newsletter subscribers. Those who sign up now can be attracted back to your online shop before Christmas or at the end of the season with special offers for them.

An obvious solution is to give them a coupon with a percentage discount in return for subscribing. But there are many other effective methods, so it's worth experimenting with lead magnets. For example, a free guide on how to use one of your popular products, an ebook, free participation in a webinar, a product sample or a short free trial, access to a useful non-public video, a unique Canva template, and so on - choose the one that best relates to your services and products.

Always keep in mind: that a good lead magnet is relevant to the user, provides value, and supports your business goals.

TUNE YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS FOR THE HIGH SEASON!

... if you haven't already. Social media should never be overlooked because it plays a huge role in driving visitors to your online store during the high season.

  • It's essential to prepare your channels to effectively promote your special offers on them. But in addition to planning and scheduling organic and promoted content, you should also pay close attention to how you will respond as quickly as possible to messages and comments about your product, payment, or delivery. Remember: with the right interaction and smooth customer service operations, you can gain the attention and trust of potential customers.

  • Update your profile pictures, cover images, and shopping links to highlight Black Friday promotions and then holiday offers.

  • Carrot-pulling, i.e. communicating about upcoming discounts, is of course a good way to grab attention. But the key to success is moderation: don't just bombard people with your promotions! It's also very useful to use educational posts, polls, 'polling' interactive posts, etc. The latter is also very useful because you can use the feedback to conclude what is most likely to work best during the peak period.

TIPS FOR BLACK FRIDAY CAMPAIGNS

  • Things to use for Google ads during Black Friday are site links and/or the "promotions" plugin. Also, it is recommended to run dynamic remarketing campaigns with a higher budget during this time. However, it is not worth running search ads on Black Friday, as there is a lot of competition, the search volume is very high and the CPC would be very expensive.

  • Social media ads can be more effective at this time of year, as Black Friday is typically about impulse buying for the majority of people (except, of course, for conscious shoppers).
