About the company:

For 35 years after its founding, Cartographia was the country's only map publisher and second-largest land surveying company. During this time it has developed into a truly large company, with activities ranging from engineering geodesy, utility mapping, large-scale surveying, and topographic mapping, cartographic map editing and publishing, reproduction of all types of maps, map export and import. There was and is no other company of its kind anywhere in the world. With its ever-widening range of maps, it has contributed to a better knowledge of our country, but also of the whole world, and to the acquisition of geographical, economic, and social knowledge through map representation. Since its foundation, the company has continuously modernized its map-making technology and developed its technical tools to world-class standards. Today, Cartographia is the largest and leading map publisher and distributor in Hungary. In addition to its import-export activities, it has an outstanding national distribution network. Its domestic partners include shop chains such as Libri, Líra, hiking shops (Decathlon, Mountex), petrol station chains (MOL, OMV), and smaller map and book shops.

 

Special features:

  • the webshop is characterized by a very wide range of products and continuous promotions

  • a loyalty point system has recently been introduced

Challenges:

  • they want to use pop-ups to help visitors navigate around the site and direct their attention to the right place without being distracting

  • targeting pop-ups to make sure they are displayed to the right audience

  • prioritizing and targeting pop-ups so that they don't appear in too many places at once, distracting website visitors

  • collecting multiple newsletter subscribers

  • providing information to visitors

How did ConvKit help?

  • usually, 2-3 campaigns run at the same time, where timing and targeting are very important

  • newsletter sign-up: in exchange for a special coupon, newsletter subscribers are collected using a sign-up popup (also available in ConvKit's popup collection, where you can choose from ready-made popups, which allows you to launch your first campaign in a few minutes)

  • a very effective campaign, without a coupon the number of subscribers doubled, and with a coupon, the number of subscribers increased up to 10-20x per day thanks to the ConvKit popup

  • information popup: they use plain text popups to communicate important information about different product groups. In these cases, targeting is very important, as they only want to show relevant popups to the visitor, which is one of the pillars to increase conversions (e.g. an information popup for each product in the tourist category)

  • Exit-intent popup: within the webshop, there is a page where all the special offers are collected, this link is inserted in a popup that appears when the visitor leaves the page.

  • this is one of their most successful campaigns, currently running with a conversion rate of 4.95%

 

  • In addition to these, the following campaign types are commonly used:

  • special offer promo: special offers are often communicated with ConvKit pop-ups only (e.g. free shipping on weekends), these campaigns have also run with very good results

  • Christmas information pop-ups: important information about Christmas will be communicated to shoppers via pop-ups (in our ConvKit pop-up library, various seasonal pop-ups are ready to use and do not require any editing)

 

Since using ConvKit, Cartographia has seen a significant increase in conversion rates and a decrease in abandoned carts. If a visitor comes to the site from the various marketing channels, they are sure to make a purchase thanks to the pop-ups.
