Widget targeting by URL rules

facebooklinkedintwitter

ConvKit offers a solution for URL-based targeting if you don't find category-based targeting accurate enough. By using this feature, you can explicitly define on which pages you want your widget to appear.

Important! The URL-based targeting works in conjunction with category-based targeting, so if you only wish to use the URL-based targeting specifically, you'll have to deselect every category and page type.

URL filter

ConvKit offers the following filter types for URL based targeting:

  • Equals
  • Not equals
  • Contains at least one
  • Contains all items
  • Does not contain at least one item
  • Does not contain any item

Equals
Using this filter, your widget will only appear on those pages with the same URL as those provided in your list. It's worth noting that the whole URL needs to match. A common use case for this is targeting a specific product page.

Not equals
This filter allows your widget to appear only on certain pages where the URL differs from the ones provided in the list. In this case, ConvKit also matches the whole URL. This is useful when you exclude certain product pages where you don't want your widget to appear.

Contains at least one
The way this filter works is it matches the URL strings provided in the list. ConvKit does not match the whole URL in these cases, so if the URL contains the string even partially, your widget will appear on the page. A common use case for this filter is when you want to target specific brands within a category, assuming that the URL contains the brand's name.

Contains all items
The contains all items filter will display your widget on all pages with a matching URL to the ones on the list. The URL doesn't have to be an exact match to the string on the list - the widget will appear even if the URL only partially matches the string. A common use case for this is when you would like to target multiple manufacturer's products within a category, given that the manufacturer's name is included in the URL.

Does not contain at least one item
Using this filter, the widget will only appear on pages with a different URL compared to the ones on the list. Again, if the URL partially matches a string within the list, the widget will not appear. This is useful when you want to exclude multiple manufacturer's products within a category, assuming that the URL contains the manufacturer's name.

Does not contain any items
Using this filter, your widget will only appear on URLs that contain none of the items in the list. It's worth noting that in this case, within a given URL, it should not contain any of the strings. The most common use case for this is to exclude both a manufacturer and a subcategory within a category.
